The prospect of re-opening on Monday May 17th 2021 has us pure giddy with excitement. We have lost count of the number of weeks we’ve been closed so please don’t remind me it’s too darn depressing to dwell on.

We will all be rusty at the art of socialising with all this cocooning and marooning or whatever we call what we have been doing. But sure we will hold each other’s hands (touch elbows?) and we’ll get there somehow.

As for yours truly, I have been in the shop every day, with himself, doing a little bit here and there to try and keep the wolves from the door. Online has been a great help and we are slowly getting the hang of it. We’re a couple of dinosaurs really, but enjoying the new territory we find ourselves in. It’s good to get out of one’s comfort zone, isn’t it?

Have you thought about what it will be like to socialize again? I bumped into a friend of mine the other day and it really did feel weird to have to carry on a continuous conversation, afraid there would be embarrassing gaps, but nope we both coped and there weren’t too many awkward moments.

Having been struggling to live our quiet locked-down lives we did get there eventually, frustrating as it has been. Now the challenge will be to arrive beautifully into society as though we have emerged from a chrysalis as opposed to bubble wrap on the couch complete with copious amounts of sweet wrappers and Netflix recommendations.

So let’s hoover up all those wrappers and get up on our high horses and here we go again.

YEEHAW!!!
